Today, while watching my dog enjoy chasing the squirrels, I noticed her sniffing a little longer than usual in one spot under our Pear tree. As I got closer I realized she was sniffing of a baby dove that had fallen out of its nest. I knew the doves were nesting in that tree but did not realize the eggs had hatched. The chick seemed fine, allert but scared. I put the dog in the house, put on some garden gloves, set up the 10' ladder and put the chick back in its nest. I hope the little bugger stays put and that the mother comes back to continue raising and feeding her baby. I hope it will be ok.
